On the run!

Hey guys,

It’s been just under a month since my last post (cliché to start a post off like this, I know) and I’ve just about finished classes, settled into my Feild placement at the Canadian Wildlife Federation and have been trying to catch up with on some hang out time I’ve missed out on with friends. Needless to say I’ve been quite the busy beaver. Anyways I’ve been trying to find topics to blarggg about, I’d blarggg about making wicked website layouts but im no good at that. I’d blarggg about making an awesome salad, but i’m not really into salads and i’m a terrible cook. So then I started taking inventory on things im good at, turns out there isn’t much…My lack of talent aside I was jogging earlier this evening and decided “hey why don’t I blarggg about my progression (as a runner)”. Today I did a decent 7k jog that took just over 40minutes to complete. I’m not to sure if thats good or not?

Anyways, the plan of action:

- Jog trice(three times looool…not funny) a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

- Read up on diets/common practices about long distance running.

-Man up

Purpose:

-Stay healthy and active.

-Personal Challenge.

-Be good at something.

I don’t really see a bad side to this challenge. On that note I’m off to read up on my subject, Hopefully I’ll remember to blarggg Wednesday.

Poke-pwnd

Hello again!

I’ve always been a fan of taking existing art and skewing, changing, adding, modifying them. this guy decided to depict what would actually happen to pokemon, yes my beloved childhood cartoon. In the show and video games, these pokemon go at it pretty hard, I’m talking about electrocution, flame-throwing, drowning, dream eating! the whole objective is to make the other pokemon feint, I’m sure there were a couple died along the way…

Downloading Music: Pros and Cons

What’s your favourite genre of music, not sure?  How about pirated? I’m almost positive that at least 50% of people you know have downloaded or attempted to download music at some point in their lives. Most of us don’t think twice before we click twice anymore. What are the negatives and positives of pirating music?

Among other things we use the internet for; downloading music is guaranteed to be one of our frequent and consistent activates. And why not, it’s convenient, cheap or even free. But are we affecting the cash flow of the artists who produce them? Are we having a negative effect on the music industry?

First of all, the convenience of being able browse a musical library, rather than going out to HMV or even a vinyl store, cannot be beat. Admit it you’re lazy at the best of times. Not only is it convenient to search from the comfort of your own home, but it allows for a wider range of goodies to be found, like old vinyl music but can’t find the vinyl? Download it. This bridges generation gaps; I’ve even downloaded songs for my parents before, Louis Prima, Ella Fitzgerald anyone!? I know I’m down!

My next point: we are cheap. Not many people are willing to shell out $15 for a CD when it would literally cost next to nothing to just double click. Some artists have even used this as a way to get their voices heard though YouTube and MySpace. It’s not all negative for the artists either, more people listening to their music the more their popularity grows.

But things that are abundant tend to be little of value, in regards to money. Supply and demand hurray! The whole situation isn’t just a question of illegality either, there is a moral side of the conflict that comes along and messes with our emotions too! Fact: did you know that every time you download a song, you rip a little itty bitty piece of the artists’ soul along with it? Do you even care? No right. Well good thing because that fact was in fact, not factual, it was a dirty lie and I apologize for my deception.  What I could also talk about the lowering sales of cd’s having a direct effect on the music industry… but I don’t things are directly related, and I’m probably just making things up at this point.

I am all for downloading music. I’m far more concerned about the moral aspects of the dilemma than anything; I always imagined that if I were the artist, I wouldn’t want someone taking my stuff. As the interest in downloading becomes more and more popular, the more the artist’s precious work becomes just a product.  But I guess that’s just one of those things you have to prepare for when you become a celebrity. So before you download, think about it, pretend to be the artist, feel sorry for yourself for just a moment, and then double click.

Smell like a Man, Man

Old spice has one of the most creative series of promotional commercials I’ve seen in a long time. Playing up on the proper way to be a ‘Man’ it hits the nail on the head for all of the stereo types. My favorite and I’m sure will be in your top 3 is the “smell like a man, man”. A ridiculous script voiced by the perfect narrator; Isaiah Mustafa. he apparently played football for the Raiders and the Browns and decided to switch careers and pursuit acting. I can’t imagine how many gigs hes getting out of this, hes already been on the Ellen Degeneres show. So anyways take a peek, there are a hand full of them but all worth watching.

Monty’s Learning Corner

Hey guys!

So I’m currently working on my client project called Monty’s learning corner. Its a game developed through Adobe Flash, and I’ve been lucky enough to be put into a group tailored perfectly for it, in regard to the talented people I am working with. Basically the game is made for toddlers ages 5 and under, and it’s focus is spelling and sound recognition.

That is an example of a back ground and out main character and narrator.

RockStar strikes again

Hey guys,

If you’re a fan of Clint Eastwood western films and RockStar style game play than you probably already know about Red Dead Redemption. Scheduled to drop April 27th this game is, in my opinion, going to be in the running for best videogame 2010. Its a little more niche than other RockStar games(due to its western theme) which I suspect will either help or hinder its popularity. This game not only nails stunning graphic and immersible open world content, it boasts some crazy gameplay, Choices galore, and some of the best horse animation(horses are by far my favorite in game form of transportation for any game.) out there. I’m Sure it will not disappoint.

There is mature content so if you can handle it and are over 18, Check it out Here.

StumbleUpon!

Hola!

The internet is incomprehensibly expansive, and its made of tubes! It’s only limits are the creativity and the imagination of those who populate it. Some utilize this space for questionable things. It’s impossible to keep up with its mile a minute pace and no one could possibly view every single web-page. All this to say that I use a plug in on my browser that lets me grab random sites that fit my taste and things that I like, called Stumble Upon,

http://www.stumbleupon.com

Its a great way to pass time, or help you procrastinate. you can choose which topics interest you, and it instantly connects to those networks and helps you find people with similar likes!

Cooking is good

Hey everybody, So let me start of by saying: CANADA F*** YEAHHHH. Congratulation to the mens Olympic hockey team for not faltering under massive pressure, and to all other Canadian Athletes, volunteers, and everyone who made it happen. Proud to be Canadian!

Back to the task at hand…Student life can be difficult, the very though of it brings up images of microwave dinners/breakfast’s, pulling out change from you’re pocket and realizing you’re one quarter short, sandwiches with nothing between the slices but ketchup and possibly peanut butter if you’re lucky. All these things are food related and food is not an uncommon issue for students.

A group of friends and I decided to embark on an epic journey, are both creative and easy on the pocket book.

I didn’t forgot to grab the recipe because I was distracted by the deliciousness that we had created(I was also busy being the camera man). Oh by the way I forgot to mention we’re turning it into a podcast! anyway I will post the picture and recipe at a later date!
